Jay Gee’s Wing Central’s Roadhouse Grill Review
A friend of mine was recently hospitalized in Ellensburg for a collapsed lung. Though a daunting journey (as we live in Seattle), a group of us decided that we did in fact care enough about him to cross the mighty Cascades for a visit.  In preparation for our visit, we began an email conversation about possible dining establishments in Ellensburg. My friend Cody suggested an Italian place, some sort of church cafe, and a place called Wing Central. After researching the three, I decided Wing Central had my vote, due to a rather formidable beer selection. Sadly, my vote was vetoed by Cody, as he felt that his Asian would be less than welcome in such a place. After some thought, I remembered my friend Christian had told me about a place he had eaten at the previous weekend. The name of the establishment struck his curiosity, as it did mine. He had said it was called “The Roadhouse” (I later learned it is actually called “Wing Central’s Roadhouse”). Instantly the name enticed me with visions of Patrick Swayze at his pre-Point Break Swayziest.  I simply had to go, and luckily the website didn’t alert Cody’s fear of race-hate.Anticipating Cody’s rather less-than-heterosexual taste in music, I decided to bring along one of my Jawbreaker CDs; to ease the ride. Somewhere around Cle Elum, my CD had finished its second run through, and Cody felt it was time for us to listen to some of his tunes. Through gritted teeth, I agreed and prepared my ears to be raped by some sort of audio experience meant to be enjoyed only by the likes of junior high school girls. Cody grabbed a mix CD he had made entitled “Awesome Shit That Brings It.” As the first track began to play, I could feel my fears washing away, as the intro to the song was faintly familiar. By about second 33 I had it; the song was “You’re the Best” by Joe Espositio. Instantly, I knew this CD was in fact, going to bring it. Bring What? I could never have imagined…After a visit in the hospital with our friend Trevor, and a slightly traumatic experience with something called “Perianal and Ostomy Cleanser;” we were ready to eat. Just off the main drag in Ellensburg we came upon the little slice of awesome that is Wing Central’s Roadhouse.  As we entered the restaurant, I was hit by the striking similarities in decor to a Red Robin; but was confused as no Red Robin I had ever been in smelled that delicious. We hunkered down at a corner booth in the Bar area, and began to go over the menu (otherwise known as “Offerings of Delicious”).  While the entire menu was definitely enticing, we were intrigued by the happy hour offerings (bear in mind, it was happy hour at 9pm; which is awesome). In the end my friend Lisa and I decided to split the three mini bacon cheeseburgers ($6.99), the bacon wrapped steak bite ($2.99), and 10 wings ($2.99). If it isn’t already apparent from the tone of this review, I will tell you now:  every bite was breathtaking. Our bill for the food, plus seven beers between the two of us came to just over $32.On the drive back over the pass, Cody began to suffer a mild anxiety attack. He attributed this to over concentrating on driving through the dark mountains. I am in no doubt that a contributing factor was the knowledge that one day Trevor would get better, and we wouldn’t have a reason to come back.Joe Esposito, thank you for bringing it.P.S. Dear Stuffed Pork Chop,I’m sorry that we didn’t have a chance to meet. I want you to know that I still think of you and hope that one day we can become friends. You Look Delicious.Love,JeremyP.P.S. This restaurant was also reviewed by another person who called it “The Roadside Grill.” As this person only gave it two stars, their palate is likely as advanced as their sign reading ability.

Joe Esposito, thank you for bringing it.

P.S. Dear Stuffed Pork Chop,
I’m sorry that we didn’t have a chance to meet. I want you to know that I still think of you and hope that one day we can become friends. You Look Delicious.

Love,
Jeremy
